Today we mark an incredible 40 years since Bethany Christian Trust was pioneered in Leith, Edinburgh on 7th February 1983.
Since then, we have grown to provide services to support people facing homelessness and multiple associated needs across Scotland, all the while seeking to share Christ’s love in action in practical ways.
”“On this day, 40 years ago, Bethany Christian Trust was launched in the heart of Leith, Edinburgh. Since then, in response to growing need and through God’s grace, Bethany has developed to provide life-saving services in the heart of communities throughout cities and towns across Scotland.

As we mark this significant anniversary, we give thanks for the thousands of people who have been supported out of homelessness, addiction and brokenness and have instead found a hope and a future. We are more conscious than ever of the need for this vital work, supported by multiple partners working together in ending homelessness in Scotland, one person at a time.”
Over the years, Bethany has developed to provide high quality support services and accommodation for people who are at risk of becoming homeless, people who are currently homeless and people who have been homeless but now have their own home. Our wide ranging yet integrated approach combines these three streams of Homelessness Prevention, Crisis Intervention and Housing & Support.
Bethany Christian Trust now includes over 30 main services spread across Scotland, from Dumfries to Stornoway, from Glasgow to Aberdeen. The range of support provided includes housing, shared accommodation, education and employment, addiction recovery, emotional well-being, street outreach, community integration, offending reduction and social support.
