We are looking for volunteers to help facilitate the Men's Group, a place to build connections, try new things and learn from others through a varied programme of activities.
Role
General responsibilities
> Setting up the room for use during the group, and preparing food and drinks.
> Helping make the individuals attending the group feel welcomed and comfortable.
> At times, and where appropriate, taking the lead on preparing and/or supervising an activity, though always with the supervision and support of the Community Development Worker. Volunteers are encouraged to use their knowledge and skills to support Bethany staff to create an activities programme.
> Signposting individuals who are seeking support to staff or to other relevant services.
> Alerting a staff member in the group if you have concerns about an individual or situation within the group.
Important pre-requisites for the role
> Be reliable and willing to commit to building stable connections with clients.
> The role may be challenging, and so the volunteer must be patient, understanding and willing to be proactive in engendering a positive environment.
> Ideally, the volunteer would have experience of working with individuals with mental health issues, learning disabilities or addiction issues.
> Having a particular skill or talent (e.g. playing the guitar) can be really useful.
> Though the role does not require the volunteer to be a Christian, they must be aware and respectful of the Christian ethos upon which Bethany Christian Trust is founded.

We are looking for volunteers to run a safe and supportive group for parents, caregivers and children in Moredun.
Role
General responsibilities
> Setting out the room, including choosing appropriate toys and games for free play.
> Preparing teas and coffees.
> Supporting the Community Builder with simple activities for the children and discussion topics for the adults.
> Adhering to training and guidelines given to ensure the safety and well-being of all who attend.
Important pre-requisites for the role
> One of the most important characteristics we are looking for in volunteers is an enthusiasm and passion for children, and an interest in wanting to positively impact their lives.
> Working with toddlers can be frustrating at times. Volunteers should be patient and able to deal with potentially stressful situations in a calm, professional manner.
> Great communication skills are needed in order to effectively listen and talk to the children.
> Volunteers should be creative and flexible and able to adapt when things don’t go to plan.
> Be 18 years old or over.
> Adhere to child safeguarding policies.
> Though the role does not require the volunteer to be a Christian, they must be aware and respectful of the Christian ethos upon which Bethany Christian Trust is founded.

Pattern of hours: The group runs on a Monday from 9.30-11.30am. Volunteers should arrive by 9am and may be required to stay until 12pm to help clear away. This group runs year round with a few weeks off throughout the year for holidays.
