At the start of this Recovery Month, we would like to highlight Bethany’s Christian recovery programme called ‘Bridge to Freedom’, and particularly a new group that is starting in the City Centre.
Based on the 12 Steps, ‘Bridge to Freedom’ looks at what the Bible has to say about key aspects of our recovery journey, exploring topics such as forgiveness, identity, honesty and trust, and how to deal with emotions like fear, anger and shame. The programme is open to people of all faith and none, although participants need to be comfortable with Christian ethos of the programme.
‘Bridge to Freedom’ comprises a weekly 2-hour group session, with 1-2-1 follow-up support also available. Participants can join at any point during the 45-week rolling programme, and all that is required is a willingness to be open and honest to address the challenges we face in life.
We currently have ‘Bridge to Freedom’ groups meeting in Leith (Mondays, 2-4pm) and Gorebridge (Fridays, 2-4pm), and the new Edinburgh City Centre group on Tuesday afternoons.
The groups are run by our Recovery and Resettlement Worker, Joe McCormack, who will first meet with anyone interested in attending Bridge to Freedom to discuss if the group is appropriate for them.
Anyone interested in attending should contact Joe in advance for an initial chat 07458016976 or joemccormack@bethanychristiantrust.com
