“‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty.” Haggai 2:9
“I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it.” Revelations 3:8
In 2018, our Chief Executive, Alasdair Bennett, prayerfully prepared a five-year strategy: Mission 2024. In obedience to God’s directive, he laid out a plan of extended growth and support for Bethany Christian Trust. Little did we know that the COVID-19 pandemic would sweep the globe, disrupting all of us.
But God’s plans never fail. That year, we were able to support an additional 5,000 people and, by 2024, each expansion and new development penned within Mission 2024 came to fruition.
Your friendship and generosity, the sacrifice of your time, and, most importantly, your offerings of prayer, were intrinsic to the success of Mission 2024. The outworking of which has resulted in hope, freedom, safety, security, community and, ultimately, home for thousands of people who are vulnerable to homelessness throughout Scotland.
“‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty.” Haggai 2:9
Now, in 2025 , we look ahead to understand the heart and plans of God for the next chapter of Bethany Christian Trust. A new strategy: Dwelling Place 2030 – the next season of Bethany will be one of consolidation, allowing the time and resources required for recently pioneered services to strengthen and mature.
In this year’s Prayer Diary, the themes of Dwelling Place 2030 and the prayers that surround them are woven through the months of 2025. As we look into this new year, and consider the strategies within Dwelling Place 2030, we have confidence that your prayers will sustain us in our work because we know that our God goes before us.
“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Thank you so much for standing with us each month in prayer for the work of Bethany Christian Trust.
With warmest regards,
Deborah-Rose McNeill
