Role
The Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre provides emergency accommodation and support to anyone who would otherwise be rough sleeping in Edinburgh. We are looking for a Project Worker to join the Welcome Centre as a part-time Twilight Shift Project Worker, who works from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am and has a work pattern based on shifts over seven days.
The Welcome Centre opens in October 2024 and closes in April 2025.
The role involves working 6-hour twilight shifts, and responsibilities include:

- Working alongside partner agencies to build support plans for individuals who are staying at the centre to help move guests on to more long-term accommodation
- Providing advice and information to guests, particularly on housing issues
- Ensuring premises are prepared for the reception of guests, monitoring admissions, signing in new guests
- Supervising guest areas and ensuring that there is order and cleanliness
- Conducting welfare checks

We are looking for candidates with the following knowledge, skills and experience:

- Experience working with vulnerable and homeless people
- An understanding of mental health and addiction issues
- Ability to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour
- An SVQ level 3 in Care/Promoting Independence or equivalent is desirable
- Administrative skills and experience in the use of Microsoft Office packages, especially Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to respond to a changing environment
- Ability to maintain clear & accurate records

Details
Starting salary: £14.29 per hour
Contract: Part-time (23.625 hours per week), Fixed Term – until 30 April 2025
Holiday entitlement: 225 hours per year pro rata
